It would be ingnorant to think that there havnt been events that paralleled the holocaust. In the short
lived nation of Biafra a horrible event occure. Biafra came to be because of a break away of lgbo nigerians. The
split was caused by the lack of Lgbo representation in the nigerian government. This split angered the Nigerian government
very much. So they set up blockades around Biafra and cut off supplies in to the country. They also banned
red cross aid to the Biafrans. The rest of the world sat back and said nothing to stop the nigerians. When Biafra
finally surrended it had lost nearly millions of people due to famine and starvation.
For the last 20 years a civil war has raged in the Sudan and the rest of the world has done nothing
to stop it. The civil war forced thousands of children from there homes. These orphans or the "Lost Boys" of the Sudan travelled
thousands of miles to a kenyan refugee. Many of the children during this journey were died either from starvation
or wild animals.
During the reign of Joseph Stalin he targeted Ukraine for a mostly forgotten Holocaust.
He needed food for his troops so he simply marched his troops into the country of Ukraine and took it. With no regard
of how it would effect the people he just took it. Ukraine being a country that struggled agriculturly as it is did
not respond well to it. Nearly 5 million Ukrainians died. When Stalin was asked about what he had done he responded
bluntly that 12 deaths is a tragedy 1 million deaths a statistic.
It looks to me like many holocausts have happened since "The" holocaust. Wether the world has just become
accustomed to this violence and ignores it i dont know. But to think that these horrible acts will go away on there own and
won't repeat is dangerous thinking. Dangerous because how long untill these smaller scale holocausts turn into another huge
holocaust. How many more deaths will it take for the World to step in and stop this violence. If you ask me that is the real
question.
